     There is a lot of talk about health care in our nation today. Some days I get tired of hearing about it, because, after all, if we could just stop enjoying all of the grease and sugar and focus in on those foods that we need for essential nutrition, we may not need to worry as much about our health care needs.
     One thing that I am trying to do to get the essential nutrition that my body and my family's bodies need for healthy living is to cut out the sugary, salty snacks from our diet. I have discovered that my children love to buy snack at school, because they provide things like Starburst candy, ice cream treats, and chips with Mug drinks for them. Mom provides apples, clementines, and carrot sticks. Their essential nutrition is in the fresh fruits and vegetables that I provide. They are gaining weight and not able to focus on their schoolwork when I send them in to school with snack money.
     Another thing that I am trying to do to get the essential nutrition back into our diet is to cook home-cooked, healthy meals and stay away from the fast food or take-out. Too many times we get busy and decide we're too tired to cook that night. Our answer becomes quick and easy. Let's go to a restaurant or drive-thru and get something to eat. I'd personally prefer to get vitamins minerals out of fresh foods that are prepared at home. That's where the essential nutrition lies, and I don't run out of energy as quickly when my body is getting what it truly needs!
